Books And Flowers

What is it about books and flowers that makes them want them to be photographed together? Did you notice how whenever you see a photograph of a book more frequently than not the photographer will stick some kind of a flower into the frame.

books and flowers : Take The Highways in flowers and lights

Technically, books and flowers don’t belong together. One lasts for centuries the others lasts for few days. One smells nice the other doesn’t. One appeals to the eyes the other appeals to the mind. They should be at odds with each other. Right? Maybe the petals of the rose reminds us of the pages of the book. And while you are doing your “he loves me, he loves me not” your soul is secretly yearning to read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Maybe the thorn on the side of a rose makes think of the heart bang we collectively felt while reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

While preparing for the launch of Take The Highway, I decided to take a mandatory photograph to match the books and flowers trend. I stuck some fairy lights. After a short contemplation, I felt that a cup of coffee in there somewhere. Snapped a quick picture. I think I covered the books and flowers theme well. But then it’s hard to get wrong.
