I have been tinkering with ideas for the book cover design and novel title for the new novel. These 5 concepts I came up with. Genre is Women’s fiction. Each one I put together on my own. Which means that they don’t look polished. Don’t worry about that. Once I decide on a concept I will hire a pro to work on it which means it will look good in the end. I need your help to decided which one is best. Please have a look at each one and vote in the poll at the bottom of this blog post. You can click on any image to see it enlarged. Thank you for your input.

I like the colours, I like the composition, I like the slightly surreal feel of the image. It just feels satisfying.
Hi Elen. I love the cover of iamb traffic. It has this contemporary look to it that truly stands out to me. But I like the name of the book I took the highway only because it seems that it could go very deep in the storyline. Not sure what it is you’re writing about but those are just my thoughts. Both covers are actually pretty awesome and I love the balloons and the walking down the road. Good luck and can’t wait to see what you come up with as a final design
I like this title the best but I don’t really like the cover that goes with it. THe title makes me wonder what happens next.. Plus it has a bit of double entendre – as in the high road as opposed to getting even. The image for the cover needs some work…
Engine Heart was terrible (sorry). It took a while to figure out the picture and I couldn’t read the name!
Car on a Bus was silly. I wouldn’t be attracted to the title or the cover.
I like the cover for I Am Traffic, and I like the name for I Took the Highway.
I picked the cover based on what I would be more likely to read, and it would definitely be #5.
Knowing you a little, like being playful, creative and original woman who never stop thinking about going forward with new ideas and subjects ….I think that one looks like more like you and the colorful messages you want to carry ( the balloons?) through your writings.
It is an intuitive choice though.
Loved I took the highway, the others were a tad avant-garde for me.
I started walking a short time ago as you can see. How? Well, none of my balloons have burst and they are making a nice squitch-squitch sound as they rub together. Also, they are all full still, though I know that their hydrogen gas is so fine that it is leaking slowly through the balloon skins, but not enough to show yet.
This is nice.
I like the cover of “car on a bus” and the other covers do not engage me enough to buy the book.
It was a toss up for me between I took the Highway and I am Traffic (I LOVE that cover but the title doesn’t seem to go) but I took the highway really drew me in and actually makes me curious about the book…
It was the balloons that won me over.
2 n 3 toss ‘em
4 pretty good
1 great title-wrong cover
5 the balloons make me want to know more!
I really liked 1 but not the pink, 5 makes me want to pick it up and read the jacket. Then read the whole book
Hi Ihath–
Usually when asking for a vote like this, people separate out title from cover art.
The choice also depends on content, so I went to your “new novel” link and found that it’s not about traffic at night (Blinded By the Headlights) nor about highway traffic (I Took the Highway).
I am concerned about having a title and cover that does not reflect content, but like those two the best.
Everybody! Thank you for your feedback. I am so grateful for all the input I have received. It has been a real eye opening experience. So glad I decided to ask people for their opinion. As an Indie author I don’t have years of industry experience to teach me what book cover will appeal to readers. Luckily I have people like you who will set me on the right path. So thank you!
I like how everything is above the bus. The car is above the person evokes a feeling of suspense.
Not sure what it was about it, just seemed to suit the title.
